South Jersey Environmental Justice Alliance
part of promoting this "back door" tactic. Actually, $4 million has been requested to
relocate the residents of "The Terraces" because of the extreme environmental
harm done to these mostly minority and poor residents. By
cheating these residents
of what was initially requested for them the leftover balance of the $4 million
($3,385,000) will be spent to clean up the area for new industrial institutions.


                         Community Meetings Planned

Within the next three weeks Terrace residents are expected to regroup with the
help of  Environmental Justice groups to bring national attention to the plight of
their community and to the continued vicious treatment by the State of New Jersey
and the Redevelopment Agency.

After The Terraces' residents filed a
lawsuit and began advocating for fair
treatment; the state through the New
Jersey Department of Community
Affairs and the Camden
Redevelopment Agency began a
campaign to destroy the unity of
those fighting for environmental
justice.
             Tactics
Some residents have been told to
negotiate directly through their
appointed lawyers. The result:
Settlements for $15,000 rather than
$70,000 their lawyers are fighting for.
